So much for trying to not share a million photos from every session. This session was like a dream come true for me - I absolutely love horses, and would really like to do more senior photography sessions. It almost didn't happen when a storm rolled in just as we were supposed to get started, but it passed just as quickly and we only started about 10 minutes late.
I seriously don't think even I scratched the surface of my favorite photos from this session. This is the stunning Fallon celebrating her high school graduation - now on to Virginia Tech to study meteorology! It's no secret that she is beautiful on her own and next to her horses, feisty Bets (who is 22 years old!!) and gentle Ginger, but once she got on them (bareback!!) she was just beaming. I had a lot of fun playing with the variety of light we were getting; a combination of passing clouds from the storm, a setting sun, open shade, full shade, and open fields.
Congratulations, Fallon!! Best of luck in college and with all the amazing things you're going to do!

The Picture Perfect M Family | Middleburg, VA Family Photographer
This beautiful family recently moved here from Colorado in search of a change and adventure.
Poor mom agonized for weeks over finding the perfect spot for our pictures - she was looking for something that really spoke to her, not a place I could recommend. So on Saturday I met them at the Aldie Mill and followed until we found ourselves at Atoka Farm, a gorgeous stretch of land just outside Middleburg (but, to be honest, I really have no idea where we were!)
Even though all 3 girls are absolutely stunning, I will give you one guess as to which stole the show ;)

Ms G and Tilley | Leesburg, VA Family Photographer
I photographed G turning 3 last year at Oatlands; this year we celebrated her turning 4 and getting a new puppy at Morven Park. Is there anything more amazing than a gorgeous little girl in the soft light of [almost] Golden Hour, just being herself and loving life? Honestly, this has to be one of my favorite sessions to date. Everything about her is just perfect *insert heart emoticon here, since Blogger won't let me!*
Isn't the last photo so whimsical? The light in that spot was perfect for what we were trying to capture. I processed in color and converted to high-key black and white for my weekly photo challenge. Which do you prefer??

The A & M Families | Aldie VA Family Photographer
To say this family has personality would be the understatement of the year - but what a blast! A fellow photog in the area referred them to me when she got sick (hope you're feeling better, Cristen!!) and I am so grateful. The A Family was in town for only a few days to celebrate their littlest's birthday. After a minor hiccup getting VERY lost in the backwoods of Loudoun County, we met at a beautiful location in Aldie with perfect weather. Yes you are seeing that right - 7 kids, including a set of triplets!

The H Family | Purcellville VA Family Photographer
I had such a great time when this lovely family invited me to their home to photograph them and a special announcement (not pictured, it's a surprise! But recognize those chalkboards from Instagram?) The twins have huge personalities and it was so fun getting to play with them. They are obviously used to having their pictures taken and without a word from me they broke out into these huge, gorgeous smiles! Making my job very easy. Littlest H was quite suspicious of me but I got a few smiles in the end from her, too!

The S Family | Leesburg VA Family & Newborn Photographer
Gorgeous evening at Morven Park? Check. Adorable couple? Check check. Super cute toddler son and newborn twin girls? Check check check.
By far, my favorite moment of the night:
It was amazing to me how different the twins already are at only a couple of weeks old - one was squishy and sleepy and the other was feisty and wide awake! I loved photographing the family acting normally, their son running around and them just enjoying some fresh air. But it didn't leave me with many images focusing solely on their new daughters, so I asked to stop by their house (you know, in all their infinite free time) to capture just a few quiet moments of the girls together while their big brother was at school.

The C Family | Leesburg VA Family Photographer
It was a gorgeous evening and I was super excited to get to hang out with this family again. I had the pleasure of photographing Baby B as a newborn last year. It's hard to believe how big she has gotten! And Big Brother only gets more handsome - those baby blue eyes are incredible. This time Nana & Papa joined us and jumped into a few shots. I just love the love in these pictures - this is a family that has a lot of fun together!

Princess Life | Leesburg, VA Photographer
I love my friend Beryl. I also love her business coach, who has her do all these amazing exercises that I get to photograph! Last time, she had to be a super hero; today, she was a crowned princess who insisted we refer to her as "her royal highness." You can tell from all the laughing that this was a bit out of character for her ;)
Interested in learning how to take better pictures of your family?? You MUST check out Beryl's Momtographie class! No, I am not an affiliate - I just truly believe in all the amazing things you will learn from her. Summer is coming and it's full of memorable moments you will want to be able to capture - sign up for Momtographie ASAP so you don't miss any!

The Fabulous Ms S is Turning 4 | Leesburg VA Family Photographer
We met when my girl was 17 months old. I've been taking S's birthday photos every year since then. I have absolutely loved being able to do this for her for the last 3 years and witness what a beautiful little girl she is becoming. This time last year, her mom and I were both very pregnant when we did this session, so this year was especially fun with the babies crawling around everywhere!

Rainy Days Baby R | Leesburg VA Newborn Photographer
I was thrilled to be able to do this session for Meg, the mastermind behind Ciste Gras Cakes (who creates the cakes I offer for my cake smashes!) So imagine our disappointment when we had to reschedule, TWICE, due to rain. And then, when it finally looks like everything will go perfectly, she and her super cute little family arrive at our location and literally, the skies open up. Are you kidding me?? Well, we were already there, and Baby R isn't getting any younger, so we decided to grab umbrellas and go for it. We lasted about half an hour before the thunder and lightning started so we decided that I would come out to their new home and get some lifestyle shots of him in his perfectly Disney room to finish their session.
Baby R was just as perfect in real life as he looks in these images - he slept so soundly through intermittent rain and then my two girls poking at him. I could seriously have spent all day with him! I was also really excited to get to play with the Canon 16-35, which my husband rented for me as a surprise for our Mother's Day weekend away. I was able to get some fun shots of him in his room that I definitely would've missed otherwise. Might have to add that to my camera bag!
