project 52 of 2013 | SOOC

Our challenge this week was SOOC - straight out of camera. I'm definitely one of those people who has fallen into the trap of "if it's not edited it doesn't count." I couldn't tell you if I enjoyed or really disliked the theme this week for that reason. Anyway, I'm sharing an image of our new daughter's bedroom :)
I shoot in RAW, so I allowed the following basic adjustments - Blacks 5, Brightness +50, Contrast +25 - that I have set to apply to every image automatically.

project 52, photoblog, sooc, photo challenge, canon, Virginia photographer, still life photographer, still life photography, parenting,

Taken with my Rebel because I don't have a wide angle for my 5d2 yet, there's a lot of noise that I definitely forgot would be an issue. The edited version:

project 52, photoblog, sooc, photo challenge, canon, Virginia photographer, still life photographer, still life photography, parenting,

Cornice boards and slip cover for the rocker created by a very talented local friend-of-a-friend (website to come, can't wait to share!) and quilt and crib skirt by the amazing Rebecca of Birds Have Flowers on Etsy. The wooden chest in the lower left that looks like it doesn't belong was actually made by my late grandfather, for whom Second Ave Photography is dedicated.

Next, please hop over to Valerie Rice and check out her "SOOC" image.
