project 52 of 2013 | DOF

This week's challenge was "depth of field." I was wanting to do something a little artsy but sometimes fate just hands you the perfect opportunity - pun intended.

I was cleaning the house on Thursday (I swear!) and left my daughter coloring with crayons in the kitchen. She is two. And you know what they say about two year olds.

After taking the appropriate amount of pictures, I took her to the sink to wash it off only to find out she had gotten into actual markers and not the washables kind. Look for my nomination for Mother of the Year.

This is why I should not ever clean my house. Ever.

In fairness to my husband who appreciates when I clean, she's never been compelled to color in her hands before. My only guess is she had so much fun doing our craft that morning that she wanted to do it again. Though a few weeks late, this morning we finally got around to painting her handprint on a wood cookie from our Christmas tree :)

  3. This looks like it could be in my house! But if you saw mine son it was his face, his arms, his stomach, his legs...oh and inside his ears! Who does that!!? :) You're a great mom! Letting kids get creative is a wonderful way to go!

  5. Yep, one of my daughters regularly drew all over her body. She is 11 now and STILL likes to doodle on herself. Well, the canvas is free and always available! :)

I love the expression on your daughter's face and how you framed her hand in the floor tile below her.
